Our New Exhibit Opens in May 2013

Join us for our May meeting when we unveil our new exhibit. Our members have been hard at work in our archives, searching out York Springs history during the Civil War period. They have assembled a collection of artifacts - some on loan from community members that can't be seen outside of this special exhibit. The exhibit will remain on display throughout the year.

We look forward to seeing you at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 20th. Invite a friend!

About Our Historical Society

Ye Olde Sulphur Spa Historical Society works to encourage the study of the historical and cultural aspects of both York Springs and Adams County, Pennsylvania and to collect and preserve existing records and artifacts.

Our Historical Society is named for the famous York Sulphur Springs, which enjoyed a good reputation among the residents of Baltimore and Philadelphia during the 1800’s for its health-restoring properties. The York Sulphur Springs was the first summer resort in Adams County, and remained popular until the advent of the railroad made the Atlantic Beach resorts more attractive destinations. Daily stages ran from both Baltimore and Philadelphia to York Springs.

YOSSHS Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. (except for July, August, December, & January) at the Society's Headquarters at 408 Main Street, York Springs. Our building is handicapped-accessible and there is ample parking behind the building. Entrance is at the rear from the upper level.

We have a diverse membership, which includes long-time residents as well as newcomers to our community who are interested in local history and its preservation.

We invite you to visit one of our meetings to learn about our society and the history of both York Springs and Adams County. We hope you will find our gatherings interesting and we welcome your membership!
