Join us on Monday, April 19, at 7:30 pm on Zoom as Society member Dr. Charles Borowsky presents “Hey and Hell Days of German Immigration in Pennsylvania.”
Based on his lifelong interest in American history, interdisciplinary education, research and publications, as well as personal experience as a naturalized US citizen of German origin, Dr. Borowsky intends to present in a nutshell the fascinating history of German Immigration to Colonial America and the United States, with particular focus on Pennsylvania.
Upon tracing major German immigration waves, picturing some settlements, reviewing selected German-American communities , and highlighting contributions to Colonial America and the USA, the presentation will focus on prejudice, injustice, and attacks encountered by German immigrants ( the German-American Community) in their adopted homeland, especially during and after World War One and during World War Two, including anti Jewish-German episodes in the USA. Lessons from the history of German-Americans, and major sources and manifestations of prejudice, injustice , and socio-political attacks, applicable to any society, will also be discussed.
We hope you can join us!
