York Springs’ 2023 Memorial Day Service will be held on May 29th at 10 AM. The location for the Service this year will be on the top of Bonners Hill at Sunnyside Cemetery. This year the presentation will be the reading of a selection of letters written between war veterans and their families, starting with George Washington and ending with local veterans who were in the Civil War, World War I, World War II, and the Iraq War.
The Bermudian Springs Eagle Singers will be singing the “National Anthem” and “My Country Tis of Thee” during the presentation of Veteran Families’ Letters. The field of crosses will be displayed with a 21 gun salute and Civil War cannons firing over the crosses to honor the veterans who have passed. Taps will be played by Lion Brian Davis. Local pastors will give the Invocation and Benediction.
A shuttle will be provided to carry attendees to the service site. Bring a chair for your comfort. In case of a steady heavy rain the service will be canceled.
